The Chinese vase has always been perceived by Europeans as something mysterious, sometimes even mystical. Any wealthy person dreamed of possessing such an exotic item. He emphasized status, was considered a symbol of wealth and success. The experts spoke about the varieties of forms of Chinese vases.

Such products should have been free of sharp corners and sharp lines. Their forms changed depending on historical eras. But the four main options remained unchanged - plum vase, pear-shaped vase, square vase and "double pumpkin", informs Art salon.

Plum vases were distinguished by the presence of a narrow neck, and its tall body tapering to a small round base. They were originally used to store wine, but over time they lost their functional load and turned into decorative elements.

In pear-shaped vases, the name speaks for itself. Their shape resembled this juicy fruit with wide sides: a narrow top and a wide bottom. They also kept wine and water.

The square vase is one of the oldest forms. Such items were often found during archaeological excavations of tombs. They were placed around the bodies of the buried. The purpose and function of the square vases are still unknown.
