American pastry chef Katrina Moon creates sweets that look like miniature culinary artworks. Her cookies are stylized as characters from movies that the girl turns into babies.
For the base of the cookies, Katrina uses ordinary shortbread dough, the pieces of which are "held together" by butter, protein or custard. For decoration, she applies colored glaze and mastic. Also, the American woman often uses ingredients found in
natural handmade sweets - nuts, dried fruits, honey or stevia.
Katrina's inspiration comes from contemporary pop culture. These are heroes of popular films and cartoons - "Star Wars", "Detective Pikachu", "Pokemon", "Minions". Only, as previously indicated, the confectioner depicts them in the form of babies.
Seattle-based baker Lauren Co. is also passionate about food design. Using natural dyes, correctly selected colors and geometric shapes of the dough, Lauren manages to bake not just
pies, but real works of culinary art.
