The architectural project of the unusual library belongs to the specialists of the MAD studio. The name of this structure is translated as "mole hole".

The concrete library structure will be conventionally divided into two parts. One will have a reading room for 10 thousand books, and the other - residential block. The latter is planned to be equipped with toilets, showers, and bicycle parking.

All electrical components will be embedded in concrete blocks. The architects took such a step in order to keep the space neat and laconic. Round holes will be cut throughout the building for natural light.

In order to improve the circulation of sea air in the concrete room, the studio specialists decided to equip it with modular doors and windows. If necessary, they can be stowed into the walls.

The library is planned to be built in one of the parks on the territory of Hainan Island. The futuristic structure is expected to offer views of the South China Sea.

The project of the architectural studio was initiated as part of the renovation of the publicly accessible space located on the island.
