Photographing of roadside establishments - small shops and eateries - is a US resident John Margolis. For 40 years, he has been looking for them all over the country and capturing them with his camera.

The photographer's collection includes a shoe workshop in the form of a huge shoe, a giant ice cream and milkshake kiosk, and a supermarket with a duck on the roof. And what is a gas station in the form of an oil can? Moreover, all these unusual structures are kept by their owners clean and tidy, systematically carrying out repairs and painting.

In the mid-1950s, the number of cars on the road increased significantly. Therefore, gas stations, eateries and other roadside establishments began to appear like mushrooms after rain. And then healthy competition came into play - the owners of outlets began to compete in creativity in order to attract customers.

John Margolis, one of the few photographers, had only one thing to do - to get his camera and take off. This, in fact, he did. And thanks to his hobby, today we can enjoy these unusual shops, eateries and other establishments that once adorned the endless American highway.
