The California-based company announced an innovative method for reusing nuclear waste. Its specialists decided to use them to create batteries that can work for thousands of years without recharging.

Test battery start-up proposes to build around one of the country's nuclear reactors. So the device can absorb its radiation for the required amount of time. For the "nuclear battery" itself, several layers of nanomaterials based on carbon isotopes will be used. The latter will be complemented by a special microcircuit and a supercapacitor.

According to the authors of the project, this principle can be used to create a battery of any format. In this case, the level of radiation from it will be less than the natural radioactive background of a person.

It is assumed that batteries "charged" by a nuclear reactor will be able to power electrical appliances from 10 to 28 thousand years. Moreover, they can be used in relation to different devices, rearranging from one to another. After all, electrical appliances cannot withstand such a term of action.

It is also noted that the new battery will help partially resolve the issue of nuclear waste.
