Sculptures, in which wood and resin are combined, are created by the artist from Ukraine Yuriy Miketka. Especially impressively, he gets images of sea animals.
The artist uses the popular synthesis of different types of wood and epoxy resin as the main materials. He experiments with colors and shapes. Focusing on one or the other material.
Most often, Yuri Miketka depicts animals in his sculptures. In particular, the inhabitants of the sea - whales, killer whales, seals, fur seals. Nevertheless, he is also interested in other living creatures - birds, insects, reptiles. Sometimes these are even household items.
The Ukrainian begins his work by choosing a tree for future sculptures. Bars of oak or alder are carefully sanded and then filled with melted epoxy in the nested form. The finished product is also ground and polished at the end.
The author of the works claims that through his handmade sculptures he not only creates, but also rests. Jokingly adds that this is his personal way of relaxation. Although not officially patented yet.
