The Egg chair is a piece of furniture that has become a style icon in the field of interior design. It was officially created in the late 1950s. OXO remembered how it was.

The peculiarity of this chair is completely curved lines. For the first time, a foam material was used for the inner filler. The upholstery was held together by over 1000 hand-made seams. The body was fixed on a metal leg, which was able to change the angle of inclination. This piece of furniture seemed to "envelop" the seated person. It is a symbiosis of elegance and contrast.

It is generally accepted that the egg-like chair was presented at one of the Paris exhibitions in 1958. Arne Jacobsen became its author. But according to experts in this field, it was based on a chair that Eero Saarinen had invented ten years earlier.

Jacobsen managed to combine design and architecture not only in theory but also in practice. His chair has become one of the most important and integral elements of the foyer. Subsequently, he could be found at the reception both throughout Copenhagen and beyond.
