Scientists have created an innovative navigation method that does not need batteries. It has already proven itself for deep-water work, but has not yet adapted to shallow water.

The essence of the method is to use the navigation speaker system, where there is no battery. Unlike standard sonar devices, it works with sounds already in the water, rather than creating its own.

The development of scientists functions with the help of special materials that create charges under mechanical stress. And already, using a system of sensors, it converts information about the sound wave into the appropriate codes.

At this stage, the innovative method is already helping to collect information about the water temperature and its changes, the salt level, the location of the measuring device.

In the course of test studies, scientists have so far managed to obtain the most accurate results only at a considerable depth. They are now working to get their navigation system to function properly in shallow water.

The innovative development is planned to be used in robotic installations for creating maps of the bottom surface, performing research and underwater movement.
