It's no secret that fashion trends in interior design change frequently. One of the pieces of furniture that remains relevant in most stylistic directions is the tulip chair.

Designed half a century ago by the architect Eero Saarinen, it still does not give up its positions. Saarinen developed a armchair commissioned by the furniture giant Knoll in 1958. The designer did not like the standard 4-legged products with crossbars, so he came up with a futuristic model with only one pedestal leg. Knoll bought the right to design exclusivity from Saarinen. The brand still produces a collection of armchairs and a table called "Pedestal".

The standard color of the collection is white. But products in steel and black are also popular. The bowls of Saarinen chairs are made of fiberglass. Due to the plasticity of this material, products easily acquire a unique organic shape. The aluminum leg is polyamide coated. The base of the chairs can be rotated and static. The molded armrests, smoothly curving around the edges, resemble flower petals. The classic equipment of the chair includes a vinyl seat cushion. Most often it is made in a color scheme identical to the chair. But there is a decent alternative: leather or microfiber seats.

Laconic tulip armchairs look perfect in the minimalist direction of modern style. But also exquisitely fit into the interior with classic and antique pieces of furniture. The dining area with "tulips" always looks sophisticated and refined.

It is worth noting that Knoll armchairs need careful maintenance. Yellowing is a natural process for plastic products. To keep the color as pure white as possible, you should avoid direct sunlight on the furniture. The chair should be cleaned with delicate detergents. Sponges and brushes with abrasives will scratch and chip your furniture.

The cost of the new Pedestal chair from Knoll bites, but the cheaper options are not always pleasing in quality. The original chair will serve the owner much longer than its counterpart. By the way, wonderful vintage items can be found at various auctions and flea markets.
