The North Atlantic Alliance created the first fleet to be fully equipped with unmanned aerial vehicles. Italian Sicily became the place of deployment.

Unmanned aerial vehicles are part of the ground surveillance program, which was initiated nine years ago. Their main task is to provide images of potentially dangerous objects.

Drones allow you to create a complete picture from the air about the current situation in large areas. They record the slightest changes - be it the migration of animals or birds, the activation of enemy forces, natural disasters. Drones are even capable of identifying improvised explosive devices.

The mission readiness announcement was made after the fleet received the fifth and final aircraft. Its essence was that the use of unmanned aerial vehicles in the fleet is the most important milestone in the perception of the environment.

The first drone to be deployed on the project passed flight tests last summer. He flew to the Baltic States, as well as the southern and eastern Mediterranean.

The military suggests that using an all-drone fleet will open up new opportunities. It will be a kind of check between allied states in the common airspace.

Information regarding technical specifications is not covered. The reason for this lies in the tactical and strategic purposes of using these aircraft.

More detailed information about the project will be known after an official statement from NATO representatives.
