The Estudio Herreros architecture studio is completing the construction of a house for Edvard Munch's works. The work must be completed on time.

A two-tiered curved glass building will grace Oslo's refurbished Björvik waterfront. The original silhouette of this construction corresponds to the nature of the artist's work - formlessness, exaggeration, vagueness.

The Munch Museum will store and exhibit over 42 thousand items that once belonged to the artist. Including 26 thousand works of the artist. The administration will use 11 exhibition halls and multi-format showcases.

From an architectural point of view, the Munch Museum in Oslo is a non-standard building with natural ventilation, distinct climatic zones, heating and cooling systems.

In terms of basic materials, the architects settled on low carbon materials and concrete. The cladding of the building was made of perforated aluminum. This will protect the structure from the harsh northern sun and temperature changes.

In addition to popularizing the artist's work, the authors of the project also pursued environmental goals - to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This became possible thanks to the use of innovative ventilation designs and glazing.

Completion of construction is scheduled for late spring 2021. If all work continues at the same pace, the new Munch Museum will open on time. Otherwise, contractors will have to report to millions of fans of the artist's work. After all, they have been waiting for the opening of the "house" for a long time.

Earlier, OXO wrote about the first mega-tower to appear in China.
