Mars Inc has developed a robot that moves around the store and offers sweets to customers. But a stand-alone device does more than just that.

"Smiley" is a small metal structure equipped with sensors. In front there are shelves with sweets - sweets, chewing gums, chocolate bars. The robot goes around the store and offers something tasty to eat.

Buyers are offered two methods of payment - on the spot through the built-in terminal or at the checkout with the goods. In the first case, after payment, you can immediately enjoy sweets.

The list of responsibilities of the Smiley includes not only the sale of sweets. The robot examines in detail the behavior of customers: what they buy more often, which stalls they stop at, how long it takes to choose products. Based on this data, marketers build new sales plans.

At the moment, the robot is being tested in one of the New York supermarkets. The device travels between counters that have been pre-expanded. Offers sweets and collects customer information. So far, this is only a pilot project, which is at the testing stage.

In case of successful passing of tests, such robots will be used in all grocery outlets of the city.

The smiley, due to its multitasking, will be not only an additional advertisement and seller, but also an analyzer of buyers' actions. From a marketing point of view, this is very welcome.
