Yumi Okita is a Japanese-born artist from North Carolina who creates textile insect figurines. The works of the craftswoman amaze with high-quality detailing and reliability. Especially considering the fact that they are made entirely by hand. The only difference is that cute fabric insects sometimes have large dimensions compared to their counterparts from nature.

In the products, the craftswoman harmoniously combines the realism of the prototype with the elements of fantasy. The main task that Yumi sets for himself is to demonstrate the natural beauty of living beings and at the same time rethink their meaning. Butterflies in a luxurious look, modest moths and serious cicadas are created by the craftswoman in different proportions. The size of some insects is a couple of centimeters, while other figures reach 15 cm.

The craftswoman painstakingly and diligently works on each craft, sitting on them for many hours in a row. In order to convey the jewelery of work on small details with the highest quality, the girl uses several techniques at the same time. These are crocheting, embroidery, hand-painting and other types of needlework.

The very process of creating insects includes several stages. First of all, the wings are made. Yumi then adds texture and volume to them (using coloring and embroidery). After that, the craftswoman proceeds to form the frame of the insect's body from pieces of fur and wire. Crocheting - the final stage of work on the craft.

By the way, such creativity for Yumi is not only a favorite hobby, but also a demanded commercial project. The girl's works can be purchased in online stores.
