German startup has come up with a courier drone that can deliver 3 parcels at once
A successful solution to the problem of the impossibility of launching widespread use of drones for delivering parcels was invented by a German startup Wingcopter. To increase business profitability, the company has released an improved model Wingcopter 198. A new generation drone capable of vertical take-off and landing using eVTOL - a rotating rotor. Thanks to this, the unmanned aerial vehicle will deliver several parcels at once to different places, spending the time of one flight. This will significantly reduce delivery costs.
The dimensions of the drone are quite compact: weight - 20 kg, dimensions - 65x198x152 cm.The engine develops a speed of 150 km / h. Wingcopter 198 is capable of flying 75 km with a load of 5 kg on a single charge. The parcels are secured using separate winches. In the event of strong gusts of wind, the tilting rotor system adjusts automatically. The drone has the function of hovering in the air, which is useful in situations when the package must be handed over to the owner from the air.
The control of the drone is automated down to the smallest detail. The drone perfectly maneuvers between obstacles. This is due to the availability of modern software and on-board sensors. If necessary, the gadget can drop to the ground.
According to the developers, one operator is needed to control 10 drones. The ground station, equipped with a special display, makes the process of monitoring the drones as easy as possible. Communication with the operator takes place through a communication channel supported by the satellite system.
At the moment, the startup is in the process of obtaining a license for the ability to carry out cargo transportation within the country on a commercial basis. The next stage is the search for employees specializing in piloting and artificial intelligence technologies.
