The more unusual the art, the more attention it attracts. This simple truth is well learned by the family duo from Chicago. Xavier Wynn and Edwige Massar create original compositions from old things found in landfills: sculptures in the form of human profiles.

“A profile is a powerful, energetic, yet clear and easily recognizable image. A close connection with self-knowledge and one's own personality is broadcast by the head. In the creations of the spouses, the inner content directly influences and interacts with the outer form.

“Our inner part is determined by the brain, thoughts, feelings, memories. But the profile of a person - displays from the outside what is hidden inside. It is the external component that is responsible for how a person is perceived initially, ”the team of artists notes.

The artists deliberately chose this creative direction. Portraits made of unnecessary objects not only look spectacular, but also contain deep meaning. The conceptual load of art objects goes far beyond the obvious things at first glance.

The sculptures do not have their own names. Each of them has only a serial number. Each of the works broadcasts its own story based on the material used. The collection also reflects the authors' interest in medical topics.

The sections of the brain, neck and face are carefully worked out in the sculptures. Each part is decorated with fragments of broken mechanisms, details from old toys, glass and stones.

Craftsmen often add polymorphic clay to objects. Some elements of the portrait are coated with artificial resin or acrylic paint in gold, silver and bronze shades. Artists do not adhere to a certain scheme when creating objects. Sometimes the work starts with an idea, and sometimes it starts with a found item.
