Fritz Hansen has updated the classic armchair by Arne Jacobsen
Design studio Fritz Hansen has presented an updated version of the classic chair, once created by Arne Jacobsen. The novelty has received new upholstery materials and colors.
The updated chair - the streamlined metal and wood construction is now even softer. This was largely due to the use of new upholstery materials, as well as a special technology for fixing the fabric on a wooden base.
The colors used for the chair are in gentle warm colors. Accent colors - yellow, green, red, as well as their shades. The outer backrest is still wood in A Sense Of Color. However, Fritz Hansen used a palette of 16 shades.
The Arne Jacobsen armchair is considered a masterpiece for all time. It has appeared on numerous occasions in music videos and films. This chair, along with other items, was designed in 1958 for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen.
It is noted that the famous shape of this piece of furniture was not found by chance. For many years, the author nurtured the project of an armchair with forms that were unusual for that time. The “egg” owes its birth to the irrepressible character, patience and constant desire to overcome difficulties of Arne Jacobsen.
As the author said, first, several clay molds were made, which helped to combine the rounded back, seat and armrests. This should have been done without abrupt transitions and protrusions. Then the designer moved on to experiments with wood and fabric.
