Toyota has taught robots to identify objects and their reflections. The results of the experiment were filmed and published on the official website of the automaker.

The robot present at the shooting is assembled from segmented parts, which are united by one body. They can bend and unbend relative to each other. Cameras for distinguishing objects are built into the head.

The device was taught not only to determine where the object is in front of it, but where its reflection is. But also shoot yourself on camera. Selfie creation is an additional feature that engineers allegedly came up with playfully.

The company's representatives call their global goal the expansion of human capabilities, and not their replacement by the forces of robotics.

Housework is considered a non-trivial task for robots. Everything depends on different types of interiors, so it is quite difficult for machines operating according to certain algorithms to cope with this.

To teach the robot to distinguish between an object and its image, the engineers used a new method. Thanks to this, the machine was able to distinguish a three-dimensional image on a plane, as well as perform a targeted action with them. This approach allowed engineers to save time on the time-consuming, costly, impractical method of collecting and processing data.

Other technical innovations can be seen on the OXO website in the section "Technics". In addition to devices that were released relatively recently, there are also those that are more than a dozen years old. TVs, vacuum cleaners, irons, hair dryers, cameras and more.
