Unusual installations, integrated into a living environment, are created by Stephen Massum, an environmental artist from Britain. Today, OXO will acquaint you with a part of the art objects located in Mellerstein - a park on the territory of an old Scottish manor (18th century). These creations were included in the architectural program "Borders".

Stephen's ephemeral constructions in the man-made landscape harmoniously combine elements of modern sculptural sculpture and features of historical structures.

Each building of the series, dubbed "XXX", is ideally inscribed in the surrounding space. At the same time, installations transform it and reveal it in a renewed context.

The interior of the Pekingese Stud, a former watchtower cottage, is filled with airy compositions of white fabric. The upper part consists of 22 elongated edges, each of which rises in different directions, resembling a pitched roof. The former laundry building is decorated with eight-meter basalt pillars. This idea gives the construction volume and significance.

On the surface of the lake there are white balls of different sizes (from 1 to 4 m). The laconic form of the structures emphasizes the beauty of the marble statues and the exterior of the mansion by playing with color, light and scale.

All of Stephen's open-air installations, combined with the light-colored architectural complex, give new meaning to what is already familiar. This is a real conversation between the past and the present.

Such creative projects often inspire viewers to create their own ideas. Those who were imbued with what they saw and decided to create their own masterpiece, we invite you to the section
"Tools and equipment". There you will find everything you need to achieve your goal.
