An orange peel electric lamp was developed by one of the Milanese startups. The device can be recycled together with other waste, and before that "weaved" into the interior.

The lamp is made of threads made from the peel of several oranges. After drying, the "powder" is mixed with vegetable polymers.

The filament is laid in a spiral using a 3D printer and forms the frame of the future lighting device. Then a lamp is screwed into the base, under the lampshade, a wire is laid and the lamp is ready for use.

The texture of the finished device vaguely resembles an orange, but for greater similarity, the developers used orange food colors.

Recall that Sicily is a country that is engaged in the cultivation of oranges. Their number is about 3% of the total share of these tropical fruits in the world. Therefore, the Milanese startup maintains direct contact with Sicilian manufacturers. The latter provide them with a peel.

The principles of local production or re-use of products are very relevant today. Clothing, food, agriculture, and now furniture manufacturing stand guard over the wise use of resources. The Milan-based startup has not been aloof from global trends.

However, traditional lighting fixtures remain in vogue. Many people buy chandeliers, sconces, lamps and more. In the section of the OXO website "Home, interior" more than 7 thousand lots have been collected, among which lighting devices are not the last.
