Paper masterpieces: antique cameras from a Korean craftswoman

Ho repeatedly introduced his readers to the craftsmen who create masterpieces from fragile paper. Today we present to you a talented artist from South Korea who also chose colored paper as her hobby. A craftswoman creates retro cameras out of her. The sculptures of the craftswoman are made so finely that at first glance it is difficult to distinguish them from real ones.

The inspiration for the creation of original art objects came to the girl after visiting the Camera Museum located in Seoul. She has been creating filigree sculptures for the girl for more than six months. Every day Li Ji-Hi: I sat over crafts, scrupulously working out every detail of future masterpieces of art.

Film cameras from famous brands became the prototypes of the sculptures. Before embarking on making copies, the craftswoman carefully studied the photographs of real copies, so as not to miss a single feature.

The only difference between Li cameras and the originals is the color scheme. The artist prefers saturated colors and textures. Thus, the craftswoman demonstrates the cameras in an updated form and gives the products a retro atmosphere.



“My cameras are based on real gadgets. I repeat the shape, size and position of all elements. But my soul demands to express my own perception of color and ornament. When I start working on a new object, I look at a sheet of paper and only then I understand what color I will get in the end, ”says Li Ji-Hi.
