The Swedish startup Heart Aerospace has presented the world with a new development - an electric plane, the main task of which is to fly short distances. Within a few years, the company's fleet will be one hundred aircraft. At the moment, investors are actively joining the project.

Heart Aerospace will comfortably accommodate 19 passengers on board. The aircraft is capable of flying over a distance of 400 km. But soon this figure will grow along with the increase in battery performance. The prime cost of the engine is 20 times less than that of a standard aircraft on a turboprop system. In addition, the costs associated with aircraft maintenance are reduced.

The engineers involved in the development of the aircraft assume that the ES-19 will conquer paths in the future that gas turbine liners cannot cope with, or even find new routes. The design of the aircraft allows for takeoff from a runway with a length of only 760 meters. This means that the ES-19 will be able to make routes in mountainous terrain, where other travel methods are not convenient. Also, the plane will be able to fly over the islands of the archipelago.

The first flight of the ES-19 will only take place in a few years, but already now many companies are interested in the development. For example, Mesa Airlines, Breakthrough Energy Ventures and United Airlines have pledged to buy more than 100 aircraft for commercial use. Heart Aerospace's maiden flight is scheduled for early 2024. In 2026, the project will undergo certification, which will allow the establishment of permanent ES-19 flights.
