Today, no one can be surprised by robots that help with household chores, raise children or walk animals. A separate category is occupied by robots - pets. Oho wondered if mechanical analogs could replace real animals, or whether tetrapods will forever remain our favorites.

The world's first robot AIBO was developed by Sony in 1999. Push-button sensors are embedded in the head, chin and each of the robot's paws. When expressing emotions (joy or anger), the robot's eyes would light up red or green. The dog worked without recharging for more than an hour and a half. The AIBO line ended in 2006. In 2018, an improved series saw the world. The appearance of the new AIBO was more like a real dog. The robot has learned to imitate the emotions of an ordinary puppy and execute a series of commands.

At the moment, a number of research teams are working to improve the capabilities of robops. Scientists from the University of Edinburgh say that thanks to deep learning, dog-like robots will exhibit spontaneous behavior of real fellows (including their habits, features, weaknesses). Thus, the robots will become as realistic as possible.

At the same time, psychologists believe that robops cannot become an alternative to real pets. Experts note that even if robotic dogs get a new way of thinking, and no longer look like programmed mechanisms, they will still not acquire a psychological component and moral status.

At the same time, some scientists believe that robots will become assistants in the therapy of elderly single people suffering from dementia, Alzheimer's disease, etc.

Robotic dogs come in handy in nursing homes. With them, the elderly will not feel so lonely. Robots will be especially useful if developers install additional functions in new models. For example, they will remind the person to take the medicine.

We invite owners of real animals to the section "Zoo goods", where everything you need to care for pets is presented.
