Travel and collection: a German “collected” Venetian mosaics

The Venetian mosaics attracted photographer Sebastian Erras during the trip. These are bright, authentic types of decor that are difficult to pass by.

Geometric and floral designs intertwine with urban architecture. They read freedom, romanticism, the desire to submit to what is happening. Often they intertwine the features of the city on the water.

These can be zoomorphic images - warlike lions and formidable eagles, vegetable - flowers and leaves, space objects - the sun, stars, sky. And the number of their stylizations is simply innumerable.

Each such mosaic has its own history: something was created along with the buildings, something was reconstructed more than once, but something arose only recently. But each of these mosaic images is eye-catching and mesmerizing.

The German photographer took his pictures in a simple manner. I just shot my legs against the background of the mosaics. It turned out to be a story that lasted several months.

In total, it took Sebastian Erras several months to photograph the architectural delights that were placed under the feet of the inhabitants of Venice. The man did not come purposefully for this. I just wanted to shoot views of the city, but it turned out to be a story about mosaics.

Creative photographers often take photographs of various architectural objects. These are both abandoned houses and dilapidated factories. Many people shoot the same objects, but the result is different. After all, every photographer has his own vision.
