Installation by Yuri Suzuki installed in central London
Japanese designer Yuri Suzuki presented an installation that was installed in central London. The striking functional structure was inaugurated on 23 August.
The installation is a stylization of a tree with multi-colored branches, each of which is decorated with a mini-gramophone. Yellows, blues, reds and greens make it stand out against the gray buildings of the London borough.
This multi-touch object was not only designed for decoration purposes. The designer wanted to explore the nature of communication in this way. The distinctive trumpet buds amplify external sounds and allow locals and tourists to improve their communication skills, even in isolation.
Yuri Suzuki's vision was based on the premise that social isolation cannot last forever. That one day the story with a 1.5-meter distance should end. But at the same time, people should remember about their safety. Installation participants can communicate with each other, keeping a distance.
Each person can freely approach the metal structure, say something to his interlocutor, who is at the other end. And do not worry that the information will not arrive or will arrive in a distorted form. The entire audio track is transmitted.
In the future, the Japanese designer plans to complement his work with an interactive experience launched at the next specialized exhibition in London.
However, both this and other structures cannot be installed without special tools - from banal screws and bolts to rotary hammers. In the section of the OXO website "Tools and equipment", more than 12 thousand such lots are displayed.
