Hurdy-gurdy of a new generation: Swedish musician creates unusual musical instruments

Music relaxes people, brings back good memories, cheers up and helps to cope with stress. And if this music is reproduced by an instrument created by one's own hands, then the pleasure of listening to it increases significantly. This is the opinion of the musician from Sweden Martin Molin.

Martin has a long history of making exotic instruments. His collection already contains an exclusive tractophone, metallophone, teremin. But most of all, the master is proud of the new development, which was called the Wintergatan Marble Machine.

The instrument resembling a music box is equipped with a manual crankshaft drive. The main feature of the Wintergatan Marble Machine is the loop system of 2000 balls. Its job is to move the balls inside the tubes and pulleys. The sound of the vibraphone, drums and bass is connected at the right moments using special switches.

Initially, the musician planned that he would collect the creation in just a couple of months. But his plan got out of hand. Each of the 3000 parts of the tool was designed by hand. Therefore, the process dragged on for more than a year.

Each stage of the creation of the Wintergatan Marble Machine Martin demonstrated in his videos on YouTube. Molina's creation caused a lot of excitement. The musician received strong support from his fans. But nevertheless, in the near future, Martin is not going to organize a tour. This is due to the fact that assembling and disassembling the invention takes a lot of time and effort.

The craftsman wants to improve the tool in the near future, making it more mobile. And perhaps it will create a smaller version that will not cause difficulties with transportation over long distances. On our site, musical instruments are presented in this section.
