A device to help people with prostheses move more comfortably has been developed by researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Amputees often have difficulty handling prostheses. The fact is that most prostheses function on the basis of electromyography. This electrical technology for recording muscle activity does not fully control the movements of the prostheses. The creators of the new mechanism believe that through their alternative design, the quality of life of patients can be significantly improved.

The principle of operation of the device consists in introducing miniature balls from a magnet into the muscle tissue of an amputated leg or arm. In a fraction of a second, data on the length of the muscle is transmitted to the bionic prosthesis. This technique is called Magnetomicrometry. With the help of a sensory matrix, she examines the pairs of balls formed in the muscles and fixes the information she needs. Thus, it becomes clear what a certain muscle wants to do, but for some reason cannot.

The need for limb amputation occurs for various reasons. In some cases, this is due to health problems. Therefore, it is extremely important to monitor your physical condition for every person. In the section "Medical equipment and health products" you will find everything you need for this purpose.
