Hobby with benefit: Israeli diver discovered the sword of the crusader
Diving is a hobby of the resident of Israel Shlomi Katsin. But this time another swim ended with the discovery of objects valuable for the history of the country.
The diver found a sword, the blade of which was more than 1 m, and the handle was 30 cm. The weapon was shrouded in marine organisms - shells, corals. But that didn’t stop the experts from establishing that it was supposedly made of iron.
After the discovery, the sword was transferred to the Israel Antiquities Authority. According to the director of this organization, the age of the find is about 900 years. And his condition is really good.
The Office noted that the good thing about the sea finds is that they have a better chance of surviving. This is due to their location in an anaerobic environment, under a layer of sand and water. And also the seabed reliably hides objects from the eyes of search engines.
In addition to the sword of Shlomi Katsin, they managed to find stone and metal anchors, fragments of ceramics. Experts from the Office of Antiquities believe that this place was a ship anchorage in the era of the Crusaders.

Prior to that, his hobby brought him only small items that were not related to the historical past of Israel or any other state.
