A prototype motorcycle designed for riding on the moon was presented to the world by the German company Hookie. The electrical device was named The Tardigrade in honor of the tardigrade. This tiny animal is distinguished by its special endurance and strength.

Nico Mueller (company spokesman) said that the development weight is only 120 kg, which is 2 times less than a buggy from NASA. Accordingly, the device takes up less space compared to analogs. This characteristic is important, because the delivery of items into orbit is extremely expensive: the cost of transporting one kg exceeds $ 2,000.

The motorcycle is made of an ultra-lightweight metal axle aluminum frame, which is only 10 ml thick. The frame has a Kevlar coating and a special spray that protects the parts from radiation, temperature drops and mechanical damage.

The powertrain for the motorcycle was created by Cake. Thanks to its design, the replacement of damaged elements is very fast. The inspiration for the design of an unusual motorcycle was the work of the artist Andrei Fabishevsky.

German regulator TUV has carried out a thorough technical inspection of the electric motorcycle. At the moment, the company has not signed an agreement with any space agency in the world. But the engineers are confident that the collaboration will take place in the near future. After all, American astronauts are planning to land on the moon, where they will be until 2025.
