British researchers have developed a way of recording information that is tens of thousands of times superior to Blu-ray recording.

The recording procedure is performed on a glass square using two lasers. The first makes recesses in the glass, the second encodes information. For the latter procedure, both polarization and sunlight intensity are used.

Through these two beams, information is read out and transferred to the glass surface. It cannot be called unambiguously new, since about 10-15 years ago this technology was called holographic recording. And many companies were actively developing everything that was associated with it.

The speed of recording causes serious difficulties. It takes about 6 hours to transfer information onto a 1 square inch square glass. This is quite costly. But the developers do not lose hope that they will be able to correct this flaw.

It is noted that a few years ago the write speed was 3 KB / s, and today it has been increased 75 times.

The use of such recording technology is planned to be introduced, first of all, in the field of information technology. But it is possible that it will find application in space exploration. After leaving on missions to other planets, rovers must be equipped with everything necessary to explore other worlds.

Traditional means for storing and recording data are displayed on the OXO website in the section "PCs, laptops, tablets, office equipment".
