Collecting fossils and ancient remains attracts many people. An unknown collector bought a Triceratops skeleton for almost $ 8 million at an auction organized by the auction house Drouot.

The skeleton of the dinosaur, nicknamed Big John, was assembled at about 65% with 70% of the skull intact. And this, according to paleontologists, is a fairly high percentage for fossilized remains that have survived millennia in the earth.

The length of the Triceratops skeleton exceeds the length of the African elephant by several meters. On the neck of the ancient animal there is a mark from a possible fight with another dinosaur for the division of territory or the right to obtain a female.

It is noted that this dinosaur lived in an area that extended to the territory of modern North America. Thanks to the effects of dirt and sediment, the remains were preserved in perfect condition. This allowed paleontologists to reconstruct it with high accuracy.

The sold Triceratops got its nickname because of the place of discovery. This is due to the name of the owner of the site where the dinosaur skull bones were first discovered. Subsequently, the skeleton was acquired by paleontologists from the studio for the restoration of ancient remains, restored and put up for sale.

Quite often, a hobby such as collecting completely absorbs a person's life. In the case of a collector of antiquities who wished to remain anonymous, this is exactly what happened. And for those who have not yet decided on their future occupation, you should visit the section of the OXO site "Sports, recreation, leisure, tourism, fishing".
