American automaker Ford has demonstrated the first electric motor that can replace the internal combustion engine in traditional cars. A classic-format pickup truck of the 1978 model was used as a test exhibit.

The new development is based on the electric motor of the Mustang electric vehicle of the Mach-E GT model. The technical characteristics of the engine are appropriate - power up to 281 hp. and 433 N / m of torque.

The test drive was carried out on a 1978 car equipped with two electric motors. In terms of characteristics, it duplicated the first production electric car released under the Mustang brand.

The decision to install electric motors in traditional cars and rebuild them in this way will allow car owners to make it easier for car owners to convert their cars. We are talking about internal combustion engines and electric cars.

In the future, Ford intends to establish production of other technical components that will help transform traditional cars - battery systems, controllers, inverters. However, there are test tests ahead and the automaker's plans for the next 5-10 years depend on their results.

This is not to say that the electric motor is strikingly different from its "colleagues". However, the detailed specifications of the device have not yet been disclosed.
