Artist Peter Opheim continues to wow fans with original paintings of bizarre but lovable creatures. The heroes of Peter's creations are inhabitants of fantasy worlds from a parallel reality. The peculiarity of the painter's canvases is in the effect of the referent's reality: the figurines, hand-sculpted by the author from plasticine, become the prototypes of the characters.

The material that the craftsman chooses for his compositions, as well as the incorrect proportions of the figures, are Peter's references to the world of childhood. As if in fairy tales, where a psychological component is hidden in an innocent at first glance plot, the artist's childhood experiences are conveyed in the distorted parts of the bodies and non-standard colors.

Initially, the American painter Peter Opheim was engaged in abstraction. But gradually he completely switched to the sculptural form of creating figurative images. “My soul gravitated to reproduce what none of the people had met in real life.” - said Peter.

The craftsman began his career at St. Olaf's College, where he studied economics and oriental studies. But the dream of becoming an artist never left Opheim.

Today Peter has gained popularity: his works are often exhibited not only at local exhibitions, but also international ones. A number of the author's creations have become part of the collections of museums in South Korea and New York. Among the painter's achievements is the main grant founded by the Pollock-Krasner Foundation.

Most of Peter's works, with the help of cute illusory characters, reveal the theme of family relationships and kinship.

Fans acquire the artist's creations to decorate the interior of their home. On our website, you can find original decor items, including paintings, in the section "Interior".
