Imaginary Geographies: Chilean designers unveil furniture inspired by the country's landscapes
Design agency gt2p has developed a collection of furniture inspired by the Chilean landscape. These are objects with wavy textures.
The collection includes a coffee table and a wardrobe. Several types of natural wood are used as the main material. One for the frame, the other for finishing.
The design of the wardrobe resembles standard pieces of furniture. Rectangular shape, book-opening doors. But the finishing deserves special attention. Visually, it is represented by smooth and embossed surfaces. Closer to the top, there are undulating stripes.
The round coffee table also consists of two parts. The tempered glass frame looks like a wooden case. A visible part of the glass is left on the surface of the countertop. As conceived by the designers, this is a visualization of a lake against a background of mountains.
When designing pieces of furniture, designers turned to topographic maps of Chile. After detailed research, it was decided to concentrate on two areas. It was a mountain range and a coastal area of the lake.
