Briton hit the Guinness Book of Records, having collected a collection of 1,700 Christmas balls
Welsh resident Sylvia Pope has become a Guinness World Record holder for her collection of New Year's toys. Experts have recorded 1,700 Christmas balls in her collection.
Sylvia Pope's collection contains various exhibits, but she gives preference to Christmas balls. Various sizes, colors, matte and glossy. Some models are decorated with natural stones - especially valuable exhibits of the collection are kept in safe deposit boxes.
The idea to collect New Year's toys came to a woman in 1999. After visiting a friend of her son's, Sylvia Pope discovered that collecting is quite an exciting experience. A friend of her son was very enthusiastic about his collection and showed the most valuable exhibits.
The British decided to give it a try. First, she bought some of the most common Christmas tree decorations. New Year's holidays were approaching, so it was not difficult to acquire new toys.
Then, in the summer, she accidentally stumbled upon a souvenir shop, where she saw vintage decorations for the Christmas tree. Sylvia Pope literally fell in love with them, so she bought everything at once.
The storage place was her room, which she converted into a mini-museum. The balloons, which were present almost every day, were hung on the ceiling by the woman. As a result, she got an iridescent room made of New Year's toys.
Today Sylvia Pope continues to search for unusual toys and expand her collection. And the recent record and its fixation by the Guinness Committee provoked the keen pensioner even more.
