Scottish needlewoman Jo Hamilton creates textile paintings from unnecessary materials. The girl uses old woolen things to loose them and use threads.

With the help of a crochet hook, the craftswoman knits subject pictures and portraits. Often these are abstract compositions that represent fantasy worlds. The latter come to life only in the imagination of Jo Hamilton.

Work on each painting begins with the selection of materials. The girl buys old woolen clothes and dissolves them. So she gets material for future paintings. In some cases, if available, Jo Hamilton buys recycled plastic materials.

By giving a second life to previously used things, the Scottish woman feels that she is helping nature. Saving materials, as well as their reuse, have a significant impact on the environment. The sense of belonging to the opportunity to change the world, to make it cleaner, adds value to the work of Jo Hamilton.

The subjects for textile paintings are life on the streets and in cities, portraits of people, landscapes, images of insects and birds. Visually, it seems that the needlewoman's paintings are unfinished. But this is the idea - to let the viewer think out how this or that "story" will end.

You can prepare materials and tools for knitting or sewing using the OXO website. The eponymous section contains a wide selection of lots of the relevant subject - crochet hooks and knitting needles, threads, hoops, decorative elements for decoration, etc.
