The British company Knight Architects has developed and realized the project of a bridge that opens like a fan. The architectural structure is located in the Grand Union in Paddington Basin.

The mobile bridge consists of four girders, which in the "assembled" state resemble a fan with steel plates. Once unfolded, the bridge is 3 meters wide and 20 meters long. Railings are installed along the edges of this architectural marvel for the safety of pedestrians.

The company won the competition in 2012. However, it was planned to build a kinetic sculpture that is capable of opening in such a way as to let boats and boats pass. But later, Knight Architects decided to somewhat transform their position.

What is noteworthy is that not far from the fan bridge there is a bridge that can hide in a ball.

The use of mobile architectural structures is not only attractive in terms of design, but also very economical. Less materials are used for their construction than for traditional structures. They also take up much less space when assembled.

Knight Architects are planning further experiments with mobile structures. Next in line are sculptures, road ceilings and underpasses.

In order to correctly select the tools for carrying out construction work, you should pay attention to specialized resources. In particular, the OXO website and its section "Tools and equipment" - measuring equipment, consumables, welding equipment, components, etc.
