Sportswear brand Adidas and non-profit organization Parley for the Oceans have collaborated on a large-scale project dedicated to environmental protection and sports.

A floating installation in the form of a giant tennis court was created in the waters of the Great Barrier Reef. For its installation, the organizers used recycled plastic and a decommissioned barge. The plastic frame was “put on” on a metal base, painted and lined for playing tennis.

The initiative to create such a floating installation was proposed by a sports brand and timed to coincide with the Australian Open 2022 tournament. After the competition, the court was transferred to the use of a local school. Now children can play on its surface.

The authors of the project pursued another goal - to draw attention to the problems of pollution of the oceans. After all, being on the surface of the water, the barge helps to carry out restoration work. Their essence lies in ecological manipulations under water.

Recall that this is not the first experience of cooperation between two well-known companies. In 2015, they began to deal with the issues of plastic recycling, the use of its waste in the production of sports goods. Also making clothes and shoes. These measures help to reduce the release of environmentally harmful material into the water.

Both companies plan to follow the environmental direction in the future. And in order for such activity to take place on a global scale, Adidas and Parley for the Oceans are already discussing new projects.
