The American company Radian announced the start of construction of a single-stage spacecraft that can take off and land vertically. If the test tests are successful, then by the end of the decade, its mass production will begin.

Outwardly, the ship will resemble an aircraft, which is no different from the rest. The device will be able to lift up to five people into the air, including the pilot. The total carrying capacity of the ship will be a little more than 2.5 thousand kg.

The rocket plane will be equipped with three engines that use liquid fuel to operate. This will allow the device to take off and land like conventional aircraft, gaining the desired height. An additional function is going into space and the possibility of staying there for about five days.

The wings of the aircraft will allow landing on the strip, the length of which should reach a little more than three meters. After completing the next mission and landing, it will be refueled, checked for general condition and sent to flight in 48 hours.

At this stage, work is underway to design the first ship. Radian engineers expect them to run out by the end of this year.

It is noted that attempts have already been made to build such missiles. However, due to a lack of materials, they were put on hold for more than 20 years. After all, at that time there were no such composite materials that are used in modern vehicles.

You can find tools for working with modern materials in the section of the OXO website of the same name.
