Lexus used an extremely unusual material to create a car - cardboard. The manufacturer presented a unique model at the specialized exhibition Grand Designs Live, which took place at the National Exhibition Center in Birmingham.
The legendary brand was involved in the development of the project together with the design firm Lasercut and the cardboard company DS Smith.
It took 1,700 laser cut cardboard parts to assemble the car in real scale. Each of the elements of the Lexus was glued together by specialists with their own hands. A water-based glue was used in the work. It took at least 10 minutes to dry one part. Therefore, the manufacture of the car took almost 3 months.
The cardboard version is absolutely identical to the original. Details made of thick paper are mounted on a solid frame. The machine is equipped with wheels that can rotate. The only elements that are not made of cardboard are the engine and headlights.
Of course, in fact, the cardboard Lexus is not intended for use on ordinary roads. It is a demonstration sample and is designed as a thank you to the best employees of the company. But such a car does not need maintenance. If you own a real car, then you can find tools for repairing a vehicle in the
"Auto, Moto" section.
