Japanese archaeologists have discovered a weapon that may have served as a ninja in the past. The find is over 400 years old.

Scientists have discovered flat throwing stones, which, in their opinion, could be prototypes of throwing stars. Some of the stones have spikes on them, probably designed to inflict more damage on the enemy.

A pointed weapon was also found, which in the past was used to wound the legs of people and horses. Such clay spikes belonged to battle groups that acted like ninja.

Artifacts were excavated in Japan between 1960 and 2010. The location of the finds indicates that the weapons belonged to the soldiers who took part in the siege of Odawara in 1590.

This battle became the starting point in the division of priority militant positions between the three clans - Toyotomi and Tokugawa, who defeated the Hojo. The latter controlled a large part of the country.

It is noted that historical texts describe the ninja as spies and saboteurs of that time. Their main task was to participate in military operations.

According to archaeologists, the found weapon was hastily made in view of a hasty siege. However, despite the speed at its creation, the prototypes of throwing stars could cause significant damage to the enemy. Especially when the ninjas worked together.

You can find such throwing stars on the OXO website in the section "Sports, recreation, leisure, tourism, fishing". Decorative shurikens are designed to be played outdoors or at home.
