Scientists from the University of Wisconsin (Madison, America) wrote music specifically for cats. The compositions are based on the sounds produced by animals. The melody is formed from meowing at high frequencies, and the rhythm is built on a cat's purr.

“Humanity does not have accurate data about music that is pleasant to pets. Our research is based on the fact that cat sounds are an octave higher than the human voice. Cats also emit sliding frequencies that are atypical for ordinary music,” the project participants noted.

High frequencies are associated in cats with aggression and fear. Therefore, scientists avoided sounds that mimic ordinary meows. The "cat" composers tested the melodies on 47 representatives of the purring family. For the objectivity of the studies, the animals included similar compositions from the classics. The experiment showed that cats were much more affectionate when listening to music written just for them. Cat melodies were especially liked by animals under the age of one year.

According to psychologist Snowdon, music that people find soothing and enjoyable may have a different effect on their pets. However, each owner can observe the habits of the animal, and intuitively determine what their four-legged friends like best.
