The robot, which is able to move on a tightrope and ride a skateboard, was invented by scientists from the California Institute of Technology. Due to the fact that LEONARDO supports 2 types of movement at the same time (ground and air), the possibility of falling is practically excluded. Two legs and two propellers make the mechanism one of the most dexterous in the world.

Work on the innovative robot began in 2019. The inspiration for the creation of LEONARDO was nature. Once Sung-Jo Chang (co-author of the project) drew attention to how easily birds move through narrow obstacles with the help of jumps and flapping wings. Engineers took advantage of this trick to maintain balance. And now even the most complex gymnastic tricks are subject to the robot.

The height of LEO reaches 76.2 cm. The exact mass of the robot was not disclosed. But based on the compact appearance, we can conclude that it is not large. Propellers mounted on the arms of the apparatus are responsible for the vertical position of the robot. In addition, they prevent unnecessary pressure on the legs of the device. In the near future, the development team plans to improve the legs. They will become more rigid, due to which they will be able to securely hold the entire structure. The power of the screws will also be increased. In addition, artificial intelligence will be introduced into the final LEONARDO model.

On our website, technological innovations are presented in the this section.
