Costume designer Romy McCloskey has an unusual hobby. The girl's hobby not only gives her tremendous pleasure, but also gives her a chance for a full existence and benefit to living organisms.

Romy is looking for "monarch" butterflies with broken wings. And then, like a surgeon, restores them. In some cases, a light “repair” of damaged areas is sufficient. But sometimes the work is delayed for several weeks. The artist releases the insects only when she is convinced that they have sufficiently recovered and strengthened.

Butterflies "Monarchs" are particularly beautiful. But due to climate change, this species is gradually disappearing. To preserve the number of butterflies, biologists are engaged in breeding insects. In wildlife, wing injuries are common. Because of this, insects quickly die. After all, for flight, the wings must be absolutely symmetrical.

Restoring insects McCloskey performs with a special glue. The girl came up with the technology for "repair" herself. You can get acquainted with the process in a series of video tutorials from Romy.

Other animal rights activists picked up the idea of the artist and began to help butterflies. If you are also a lover and owner of animals or insects, we invite you to the "Pet Products" section, where you will find everything you need for your pets.
