An Indian-made Tejas Navy fighter jet landed for the first time on an aircraft carrier. Landing was carried out as part of flight tests on January 11, 2020.

Tejas Navy landed aboard the Vikramaditya aircraft carrier — the former Soviet aircraft carrier cruiser Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Gorshkov, which is based in the Arabian Sea. The test landing was successful, informs Defense News.

The decked version of the promising Indian fighter Tejas — Tejas Navy was developed since 1981. Within the framework of the project, three aircraft models were created — combat training, ground and deck. Ground Tejas has already been a member of the BBC India since 2015.

According to the developers, the fighter has a length of 13.2 m and a wingspan of 8.2 m. The maximum take-off weight of the aircraft is 13.5 tons and the speed is 2.2 thousand km per hour. The combat radius of Tejas is 500 km.

Tejas Navy differs from the basic version of the fighter in the presence of a two-seat cockpit, as well as installed landing gear and landing gear.
