Color blocks and a game of shades — apartment renovation after a fire in Barcelona (Photo)

Apartment renovation of one of the districts of Barcelona was carried out jointly by two architectural studios - Colombo and Serboli Architecture. They had to resort to painting not only walls, but also ceilings. After all, the room was after a fire.

The apartment is located in a building built in Art Nouveau style in the Barcelona district of El Born. At first they just wanted to reconstruct it. But because of the fire, most of the new elements and historical details were destroyed, inform of the Archdea.

The specialists from the studio Colombo and Serboli Architecture were tasked with conducting a budget reconstruction. They needed to focus on simple aesthetic changes. Architects had to take the existing space and give it a new meaning, change the meaning.

After removing the plaster and repairing the carbonized surfaces, the entire space was divided into color blocks. Terracotta orange paint was applied to the lowered ceiling, the walls above the sink and the central islet for breakfast in the kitchen.

The floor coverings were saved from the previous finish. The color of the tile was taken as the basis for painting the panels. Sand-beige color has become an artificial horizon for rooms. For the ceilings of the residential area, dark purple paint was chosen. And around the main bedroom they created a green edging.

Previously, designers talked about the the advantages of living rooms, access to which is equally open both outside the house and from the inside.
