The UAV PHASA-35 made its first test flight. The long battery life will allow the device to be in the air for about a year.

The PHASA-35 is an unmanned aerial vehicle that can fly in the stratosphere at a distance of up to 20 km, reports News sky.

The UAV was developed by BAE Systems and Prismatic. She conducted test tests at the Woomera Royal Australian Air Force training ground.

During the test, the PHASA-35 flew at an altitude of 2 km, which did not meet the average expected performance. But, according to the designers, they plan to increase the height during the next tests.

The wings of a 35-meter aircraft are covered with solar panels that power it during the day. They accumulate extra energy to keep PHASA-35 in the air even at night.

It is expected that the device will be used to deliver 5G communication networks. It can carry several antennas for a long time, the weight of which can exceed 40 kg.

Earlier it was reported about testing a supersonic passenger aircraft XB-1. He is tested in the desert Monhave.
