An open-plan apartment in Ahmedabad, India was created by the architectural studio Sārānsh. Specialists used different materials for different areas — concrete, wood, brass.

The company's client housing has been transformed from a two-bedroom house into an open-plan studio apartment. Architects demolished all the partitions so that at the entrance all parts of the space could be seen, writes Archidea.

A reading room was placed next to the dining room, and the bathroom was the only space with a closed door opposite the living room. The bedroom got a place at the end of the apartment. So the designers wanted to isolate it geographically.

Due to the lack of doors, it was decided to zone the space using different materials. To do this, gray-pigmented plaster, polished concrete, blue tiles, teak and brass were used. Their unification was supposed to create a “comprehensive harmony” in the apartment.

"A conscious decision was made to create a space that would be minimal and tactile at the same time." Thus, most of the selected materials were made based on their age, ”the studio explained.

Previously, designers at 30 Architects Studio transformed an old Victorian house in west London. They vacated the interiors of the house, grouping office space on the new basement floor.
