The iPhone vulnerability was discovered by a group of Chinese hackers from the Team Pangu group. They published a report stating that the problem is due to the peculiarities of the hardware architecture of all Apple devices.

The crux of the problem lies in the fact that the key security mechanism of the iPhone and iPad — the SEP (Secure Enclave Processor) coprocessor — uses shared memory during contact with the main chipset. When working with it, using the previously discovered exploit checkm8, you can bypass the limit on the number of password attempts, according to the cybersecurity portal of the Digitpol company.

A vulnerability discovered by hackers cannot be removed by any program. But in order to hack a gadget, you need physical access to it. This procedure cannot be performed remotely.

Newer devices (iPhone XS, XR, 11 Series and 2020 iPad Pros) are not affected by this vulnerability and are considered more secure to some extent, according to hackers. But if attackers come up with a way to gain direct access to memory when connecting the latest Apple devices, their protection could also fall.

Apple recently decided to deprive its new iPhone charger. She explained her decision with concern for the environment. Instead of a "free" charger, a new 20W AC adapter will be actively promoted.
