The sculptures that resemble live cats and dogs are invented by the master from Barcelona Gerard Mas. He makes them almost like living.
Visually, these are wooden animals sitting on logs. Moreover, some of their parts are darkened, which makes them even more similar to real pets. They are like
plaques written from the original.
Before starting work on the tree, Gerard Mas chooses the object to display. He studies the habits of the animal, its facial expressions and gestures. In the course of his observations, the sculptor makes sketches. He also pays attention to the features of the appearance.
The next step is preparatory woodwork. As a rule, he chooses oak or alder. According to the master, they are more malleable in processing.
The animal figurine itself occupies only a part of the cut off log. First, Gerard Mas uses a small electric saw to shape the dog or cat. And then moves on to detailing. Different sized knives are used.
Upon completion, the sculpture is polished, and its individual parts are fired. It turns out that the animal acquires a characteristic "tan".
Their eyes deserve special attention. Special colored blanks are used for them.
Siamese cats, French Bulldogs, Rottweilers come out like real ones.
