Room service: American startup plans to open first space hotel in 2027
The California startup has announced its intention to open the first hotel for space travelers. The deadline is 2027.
The hotel premises will be located inside the space station, previously launched into earth orbit. In addition to residential modules, tourists will be able to visit restaurants, cinemas, SPA, as well as other common areas.
The size of the residential module will be 11 6000 sq. m. It is designed for two people and is equipped with everything necessary for space tourism. The sleeping place will take the central part of the module. It will be combined with the living room.
The layout will be as electrified as possible. We are talking about the availability of special devices - illuminated mirrors, functional tables and bedside tables, voice lighting.
24 compartments will be allocated for residential modules. They will be divided into luxury rooms and standard rooms. Accordingly, this will affect the cost of staying at the hotel.
As for the common areas, about 100-150 people will be able to visit restaurants, cinemas and SPA at the same time. It is assumed that the built-in electronic assistants will signal the recommended time.
The startup plans to start work on the project in 2025. Until that time, its organizers hope to find contractor companies that will be interested in organizing the stay of tourists in space.
Perhaps it will be several organizations at once. After all, a hotel, especially a space hotel, will require the inclusion of experts from various fields in the work.
